Welcome to the first blog post of the Indignant Theatre company.

Now, you're properly wondering who we are and what we stand for, but the answer, as always, is a lot simpler than the question. We're really just a bunch of creative people that were drawn together when our theatre class was asked to separate into different groups.
What drew us together? Perhaps it was our desire to branch out of the norm? Perhaps it was the comfort we felt in each other's presents? Or perhaps it's because no one else wanted us in their own company? Regardless of the reason, we soon found ourselves forming ideas on what we imagined our then unnamed company to be.
It was not until our early company meetings 'til we began brainstorming ideas for a company name. "Indignant" was chosen due to being the English equivalent to "Indignatos", which was suggested by our Portuguese member, Helena Hipólito, in reference to the anti-austerity movement in Spain. Upon researching the word in greater detail, and finding that its description of "being angry because of something that is wrong" fitted with the kind of theatre we were interested in making, it was decided that we would call ourselves "Indignant Theatre".
And that is our origin story.
